The Sun Hydraulics RPGEQWV (RPGEQWV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens rapidly when the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, directing flow to tank port 2 to prevent excessive pressure buildup. It features low pressure rise versus flow and quick response times, making it suitable for applications requiring rapid pressure relief. However, this speed comes at the cost of smoothness in operation. The RPGEQWV can handle maximum pressures at port 2 and is appropriate for cross-port relief circuits, although spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This cartridge is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The RPGEQWV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. It has a cavity type T-3A and belongs to Series 2 with a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min). The factory pressure settings are established at a flow rate of 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar).
