The Sun Hydraulics RPGETNN (RPGETNN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly but may sacrifice smooth operation for speed. When the inlet port 1 reaches the valve setting, it opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to limit pressure rise. With low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response times of approximately 2 milliseconds, these valves are highly efficient in managing hydraulic pressures. They are interchangeable across all 2-port relief cartridges for a given frame size and can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making them suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice features a protective 150-micron stainless steel screen, although these valves are not ideal for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but may be damaged by petroleum-based substances. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. This Series 2 cartridge has a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It features an adjustment range that allows up to five clockwise turns to increase settings and requires specific installation torques for both the valve body and locknut. The model is lightweight at .50 lb (0.25 kg) and uses Viton seal kits (990203006).
