The Sun Hydraulics RPGETQN (RPGETQN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed valve is engineered to open quickly when the pressure at inlet port 1 reaches its set point, directing flow to tank port 2 and thereby limiting the pressure rise. It features low pressure rise versus flow and is exceptionally fast, making it ideal for applications requiring rapid response. The RPGETQN model has a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and can handle a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min). It incorporates a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. This cartridge valve is interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges, maintaining the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. It can accept maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The valve's floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. Notably, this model is not recommended for load-holding applications because of potential spool leakage. The RPGETQN also incorporates EPDM seals for use with phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they may cause seal damage.
