The Sun Hydraulics RPGETUV (RPGETUV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly to manage pressure spikes but may sacrifice smoothness in operation. When the inlet port reaches the valve's set pressure, it begins to open to the tank port, throttling flow and limiting further pressure increase. The RPGETUV is known for its low-pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges within the same frame size. This cartridge can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min). It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, making it unsuitable for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The valve will accept maximum pressure at port 2, which is beneficial for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such configurations. The RPGETUV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but may be damaged by petroleum-based products. The valve's backpressure on the tank port adds directly to the setting at a 1:1 ratio. For installation, it requires a cavity T-3A and has specific torque requirements for both the valve installation and locknut adjustments. This robust relief cartridge offers reliable performance in demanding hydraulic systems where quick response times are critical for protecting components from sudden pressure changes.

Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
