The Sun Hydraulics RPICLCN (RPICLCN) is a pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set threshold, allowing for throttled flow to maintain the desired pressure. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, it features a low pressure rise versus flow and moderate response speed. The valve can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, users should consider spool leakage in such applications. Its main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. The RPICLCN is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. This model is interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges of similar size and flow path but excludes pilot reliefs. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but may suffer damage from petroleum-based substances. Pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
