The Sun Hydraulics RPICWEN (RPICWEN) is a pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches a specified setting, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It offers smooth and quiet operation with low pressure rise versus flow, making it suitable for applications requiring moderate response times. The valve can withstand maximum pressure at port 2 and is ideal for use in cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such configurations. The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, enhancing durability. However, it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The RPICWEN cartridge is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of similar frame sizes in terms of flow path and cavity design. It features EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluids but may be damaged by petroleum-based substances. Pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
