The Sun Hydraulics RPIDBBV (RPIDBBV) is an air-controlled, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation. This valve utilizes compressed air over a diaphragm to control the pressure setting instead of an adjustable spring, making it suitable for applications requiring smooth and quiet operation with moderate speed. It is typically used in systems where accurate pressure control is essential, such as cross port relief circuits. The valve is normally closed and begins to open to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set value, throttling flow to maintain the desired pressure. The RPIDBBV can handle maximum pressures of up to 2000 psi (140 bar) and operates with a maximum air pressure of 150 psi (10.5 bar). Its design incorporates Sun's floating style construction, reducing the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve features a cavity size of T-16A/S3 with a capacity of 100 gpm (380 L/min) and has a pilot ratio of 20:1. It offers low hysteresis with dither and typical response times around 10 ms. Physically and functionally interchangeable across frame sizes, this cartridge provides versatility in various hydraulic systems. The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is specified at 4 in\u00b3/min (65 cc/min) under a pressure of 1000 psi (70 bar). Installation requires a valve hex size of 1\u00bc inches (31.8 mm) with torque specifications between 150 and 160 lbf ft (203 to 217 Nm). Weighing approximately 1.20 lbs (0.55 kg), the RPIDBBV comes equipped with Viton seals for enhanced durability in demanding environments.

Air-controlled, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges use compressed air over a diaphragm instead of an adjustable spring to control pressure setting. The air signal is supplied through a port in the hex-end of the cartridge. They are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- Maximum air pressure should not exceed 150 psi (10 bar).
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
