The Sun Hydraulics RPIEMDN (RPIEMDN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. These normally closed, pressure-limiting valves open quickly to limit pressure rise by throttling flow to the tank port when the inlet port reaches the valve setting. They are characterized by a low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time, making them suitable for applications requiring quick actuation. However, this comes at the expense of smoothness in operation. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness.
