The Sun Hydraulics RPIEMDV (RPIEMDV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches the valve setting, throttling flow to limit pressure rise. It features a low pressure rise versus flow and operates with exceptional speed. This relief cartridge is suitable for cross-port relief circuits and can handle maximum pressure at port 2, although spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability but making it unsuitable for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Incorporating Sun's floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks from excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. It fits into Cavity T-16A and Series 3 with a capacity of up to 100 gpm (380 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar).
