The Sun Hydraulics RPIEQAN (RPIEQAN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly to manage excessive pressure by throttling flow from the inlet port to the tank port, ensuring minimal pressure rise. It features a low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time, typically around 2 milliseconds. The valve can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and supports a capacity of up to 100 gpm (380 L/min). It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though users should consider spool leakage in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. However, this valve is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage.
