The Sun Hydraulics RPIEQBN (RPIEQBN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the valve setting, throttling flow to control pressure rise. It features low pressure rise versus flow and swift response times, typically around 2 milliseconds. This valve is suitable for cross port relief circuits as it can accept maximum pressure at port 2; however, users should consider spool leakage in such applications. It is not recommended for load holding applications due to this leakage characteristic. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, and the valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations. The RPIEQBN fits into Cavity T-16A and belongs to Series 3 with a capacity of up to 100 gpm (380 L/min). It operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), with factory settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). Maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is specified at 4 cubic inches per minute (65 cc/min) at 1000 psi (70 bar). Installation requires a torque of 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), with adjustments made using an internal hex screw measuring 5/32 inches (4 mm). The locknut requires a torque of 80-90 lbf in. (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.20 lb (0.55 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for reliable performance in various applications.
