The Sun Hydraulics RPIEQDN (RPIEQDN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens rapidly to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set threshold, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. Notable for its low-pressure rise versus flow and quick response time, this valve is ideal for applications where rapid opening and closing are prioritized over smoothness. It features physical and functional interchangeability across all 2-port relief cartridges except pilot reliefs, maintaining the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. The RPIEQDN can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such configurations.
