The Sun Hydraulics RPISYQV (RPISYQV) is a pilot-operated, balanced poppet relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. These normally closed valves open to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set point, smoothly throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. Known for their accuracy and low noise operation, these cartridges minimize cavitation-related issues such as noise and manifold erosion. They are capable of handling maximum pressure at port 2, making them suitable for cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. The valve's performance remains stable despite variations in oil temperature or contamination levels, thanks to its robust design featuring a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. The RPISYQV model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It features corrosion-resistant options identified by suffixes AP or LH for external stainless steel or zinc-nickel plating components, respectively. With a capacity of 100 gpm (380 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it offers quick response times and minimal leakage at reseat conditions. The valve is adjustable throughout its full range using W or Y controls unless a special setting is specified, which determines the maximum setting. Installation requires specific torque values: valve hex size is 1-1/4 inches with an installation torque of 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), while adjustment screw and locknut sizes are specified with corresponding torque requirements. Weighing in at 1.25 lb (0.60 kg), this versatile cartridge comes with Viton seal kits available under part number 990316006, ensuring reliable performance across various hydraulic applications.

Pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, smooth, quiet, fast, and have low pressure rise vs. flow.

  • Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
  • Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
