The Sun Hydraulics RPKCCDN (RPKCCDN) is a pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. It opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set level, effectively throttling flow to regulate pressure. This valve is known for its accuracy, low-pressure rise versus flow, smooth and quiet operation, and moderate speed. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This product is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity within the same frame size. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but are damaged by petroleum-based fluids and lubricants. The RPKCCDN incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It features a T-18A cavity with a Series 4 capacity of 200 gpm (760 L/min) and can operate at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Typical response time is approximately 10 ms, with maximum valve leakage at specified conditions being 5 in\u00b3/min (80 cc/min). The adjustment mechanism allows up to five turns clockwise to increase settings, secured by an internal hex screw and locknut requiring specific torque values for installation and adjustment. Pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
