The Sun Hydraulics RPKECNV (Material Number: RPKECNV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly when the inlet port pressure reaches the valve setting, directing flow to the tank port to manage pressure rise. It features low pressure rise relative to flow and rapid response times, making it suitable for applications where speed is critical. The valve is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size and can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it apt for cross-port relief circuits. However, users should note potential spool leakage in such configurations. The RPKECNV includes a main stage orifice shielded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and employs Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. It is not recommended for load-holding applications due to spool leakage concerns. The backpressure on port 2 directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The cartridge can handle up to 200 gpm (760 L/min) capacity and operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Typical response time is around 2 ms, with maximum leakage at specified conditions being 5 in\u00b3/min (80 cc/min). Adjustment involves up to five clockwise turns with specified torque settings for secure installation and locknut adjustments. The product weighs approximately 2.50 lb (1.15 kg) and comes with an optional Viton seal kit for enhanced durability under varying fluid conditions.

Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
