The Sun Hydraulics RPKECWV (RPKECWV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly at the expense of smoothness to maintain system pressure within safe limits. When the inlet port 1 reaches the preset valve setting, it opens to tank port 2, throttling flow and minimizing pressure spikes. The valve features low pressure rise versus flow and operates with remarkable speed. It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, making it versatile for various applications. The RPKECWV can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and supports a capacity of 200 gpm (760 L/min). It includes a stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice and is not suitable for load holding due to potential spool leakage. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Its construction minimizes internal binding risks from installation torque or machining variations. Suitable for cross-port relief circuits, this cartridge accepts maximum pressure at port 2 but requires consideration for spool leakage in such setups.
