The Sun Hydraulics RPKEKAV (RPKEKAV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens rapidly when the inlet port pressure reaches the set threshold, directing flow to the tank port to manage pressure spikes efficiently. Its design includes a 150-micron stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice and utilizes Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. The RPKEKAV is suitable for cross port relief circuits, accepting maximum pressure at port 2; however, spool leakage should be considered in these applications. This valve is not recommended for load holding due to potential leakage. With a capacity of 200 gpm (760 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it offers a typical response time of 2 ms and minimal leakage at specified conditions. The valve features an adjustment mechanism requiring up to five clockwise turns to increase settings and incorporates specific hex sizes for installation and adjustments: valve hex size is 1-5/8 inches (41.3 mm), adjustment screw internal hex size is 5/32 inches (4 mm), and locknut hex size is 9/16 inches (15 mm). The installation torque ranges from 350 to 375 lbf-ft (474 - 508 Nm), while locknut torque ranges from 80 to 90 lbf-in (9 -10 Nm).
