The Sun Hydraulics RPKEKNV (RPKEKNV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly at the expense of smoothness when the inlet port pressure reaches the set point, directing flow to tank port 2 to limit further pressure rise. It is characterized by its low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. The RPKEKNV valve is suitable for cross port relief circuits as it can handle maximum pressure at port 2, but it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to spool leakage. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, and its construction incorporates Sun's floating style design to minimize binding risks during installation or due to machining variations. This Series 4 cartridge has a capacity of 200 gpm (760 L/min) and operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Valve leakage is minimal at 5 in\u00b3/min (80 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The factory settings are established at a flow rate of 4 gpm (15 L/min), and adjustments can be made with up to five clockwise turns. Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.
