The Sun Hydraulics RPKEKQN (RPKEKQN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed valve opens quickly when the pressure at inlet port 1 reaches its set value, diverting flow to tank port 2 to limit pressure rise. It features low pressure rise versus flow and is characterized by rapid response times, typically around 2 milliseconds. The RPKEKQN valve is suitable for cross-port relief circuits and can handle maximum pressures at port 2; however, it should not be used in load-holding applications due to spool leakage. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This relief cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to installation torque and machining variations, ensuring reliable performance. It fits into a Cavity T-18A and belongs to the Series 4 with a capacity of up to 200 gpm (760 L/min), while the maximum operating pressure reaches up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Valve leakage remains minimal at approximately 5 in\u00b3/min (80 cc/min) under specific conditions. The adjustment mechanism allows for fine-tuning with up to five clockwise turns for increased settings, and proper installation requires specific torque values for both the valve and locknut components. This product's design makes it ideal for applications requiring rapid pressure relief without compromising on safety or reliability. Its robust construction ensures dependable operation in demanding hydraulic systems where quick response times are critical.

Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
