The Sun Hydraulics RPKTCWV (RPKTCWV) is a pilot-operated, anti-shock relief cartridge designed to limit maximum system pressure and control the rate of pressure rise. This valve features a unique ramp-closing mechanism that operates at a constant speed, independent of settings and flows. The adjust screw sets both the maximum relief and minimum threshold pressures, but adjustments can only be made when system pressure is removed. Capable of accepting maximum pressure at port 2, this valve is suitable for cross-port relief circuits but not for load-holding applications. It protects pumps and motors from pressure transients caused by sudden load changes, especially in variable displacement pumps where the displacement mechanism may lag. Additionally, it reduces jerks in hydrostatic drives during sudden reversals and can emulate ramp characteristics typical of proportional valves when used with a switching device. The RPKTCWV is ideal for small power units that need to start against an anti-shock relief to prolong pump life. Pilot-operated, anti shock relief cartridges limit maximum system pressure and also limit the rate of pressure rise. The valve opens and then ramps closed at a constant speed, independent of settings and flows. The adjust screw determines the maximum (relief) setting and the minimum (threshold) setting.
