The Sun Hydraulics RQCBCAN (RQCBCAN) is a kickdown relief cartridge that functions similarly to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. Designed for use on the actuator side of hydraulic systems, this valve opens completely and remains open once the inlet port 1 pressure exceeds the set threshold, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. The valve resets only when flow ceases and pressure at port 2 is equal to or greater than at port 1. Not suitable for load holding applications, it requires pump flow cessation for resetting if used on the pump side. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), it features a response time of approximately 25 ms. The valve's design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It includes an adjustment mechanism with up to five clockwise turns for setting increases, and its physical characteristics include a valve hex size of 3/4 inch (19.1 mm) and installation torque between 20-25 lbf ft (27-33 Nm). Back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a ratio of 1:1, offering precise control capabilities. Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
