The Sun Hydraulics RQCBKCV (Material Number: RQCBKCV) is a kickdown relief cartridge that functions similarly to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. When the pressure at inlet port 1 exceeds the valve setting, the valve kicks completely open, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank port 2. It remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 is greater than at port 2. To reset, flow from port 1 to port 2 must stop, and pressure at port 2 must equal or exceed that at port 1. Notably, this valve is not suitable for load-holding applications and should be used on the actuator side of systems where flow through the valve can cease for resetting purposes. If applied on the pump side, pump flow must be halted for reset. The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, and back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio.
