The Sun Hydraulics RQCBLNV (RQCBLNV) is a kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve activates by opening completely and maintaining an open state when the inlet port 1 pressure surpasses the preset threshold, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. It remains open until the pressure at port 1 drops below that at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease, and pressure at port 2 must meet or exceed that of port 1. The main stage orifice is shielded by a durable 150-micron stainless steel screen, though it is not suitable for load-holding applications. It is primarily intended for use on the actuator side of systems since flow through the valve must stop for resetting; if used on the pump side, pump flow needs to be halted for reset. Notably, back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting in a one-to-one ratio. All two-port relief cartridges, aside from pilot reliefs, are interchangeable physically and functionally with identical flow paths and cavity sizes within a given frame size. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The RQCBLNV has a capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Its typical response time is around 25 milliseconds with minimal leakage under specified conditions. Adjustments can be made with clockwise turns; it features specific hex sizes for both adjustment screws and locknuts, along with defined installation torque requirements.
