The Sun Hydraulics RQEBJBN (RQEBJBN) is a kickdown relief cartridge valve designed to function like a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. When the pressure at the inlet port exceeds the valve setting, it opens completely, providing an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank port 2. This valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 is greater than at port 2 and resets only when flow ceases and pressures equalize. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and is not suitable for load-holding applications. The RQEBJBN is intended for use on the actuator side of systems, where flow must stop for resetting; if used on the pump side, pump flow must halt for reset. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges are interchangeable across frame sizes, sharing flow paths and cavity designs. The corrosion-resistant construction includes options with stainless steel or zinc-nickel plating for harsh environments, identified by model code suffixes AP or LH respectively. Sun's floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve offers typical response times of 25 ms and maximum leakage of 2 in\u00b3/min at specified conditions. Adjustments are made via an internal hex screw with specific torque settings provided for installation and locknut adjustments. A Viton seal kit is available under part number 990010006.

Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.

  • To reset valve, flow through the cartridge must cease.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
