The Sun Hydraulics RQEBJCV (RQEBJCV) is a kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve opens completely and stays open when the inlet pressure at port 1 surpasses the set threshold, allowing an unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. It remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 is higher than at port 2. To reset, the flow must stop, and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than at port 1. The main stage orifice is shielded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability in various conditions. However, it is not suitable for load-holding applications and should be used on the actuator side of a system since flow cessation is necessary for resetting. If applied on a pump side, the pump flow must halt for resetting. The valve's back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges (excluding pilot reliefs) are interchangeable with consistent flow paths and cavity sizes for given frames. The cartridge's corrosion-resistant design suits corrosive environments, identified by model code suffixes AP or LH. Its floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it offers typical response times of about 25 ms and minimal leakage rates under specified conditions. Installation requires specific torque settings for optimal performance, with adjustment options available through an internal hex screw system. Weighing just .30 lb (.15 kg), this valve provides robust functionality while maintaining ease of use in various hydraulic applications like portable grain augers for emergency scenarios where quick release is crucial.

Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.

  • To reset valve, flow through the cartridge must cease.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
