The Sun Hydraulics RQEBLNN (RQEBLNN) is a kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. It operates by kicking completely open and remaining open when the inlet port 1 pressure exceeds the valve setting, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 surpasses that at port 2. To reset, the flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease with equal or greater pressure at port 2 compared to port 1. This cartridge is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and is not suitable for load-holding applications. It should be used on the actuator side of a system, as flow must stop for reset; if used on the pump side, pump flow must be shut off for reset. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges, except pilot reliefs, are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size for a given frame size. The corrosion-resistant design includes options for stainless steel or zinc-nickel plated components. It features Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. With a capacity of up to 25 gpm (95 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it has a typical response time of 25 ms and maximum leakage of 2 in\u00b3/min at specific conditions. The adjustment allows five clockwise turns to increase setting, with specified torques for installation and locknut adjustments. This product is ideal for applications like portable grain augers where safety through rapid pressure release is critical.

Description

Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.

For Series 1 cartridges configured with an O control (panel mount handknob), a .75 in. (19 mm) diameter hole is required in the panel.

Where would I use a kick-down relief?	One graphic example is on a portable grain auger for silos. When the farmer gets caught in the auger the kick-down relief trips and allows him to escape.
What are the tolerances on pressure settings for Sun's pressure control valves?	Pressure setting tolerances are listed in our Performance Data page. A link to this page can also be found in the Additional Resources tab of the applicable product page.
How big is a drop of hydraulic oil?	There are exactly 250 Sun drops in a cubic inch or 15 in a cc.
Can I use a kick-down relief for my system relief?	Maybe not. We build in a good amount of overlap in the kick-down reliefs to prevent false tripping. This means they are not as fast as our standard pilot-operated reliefs. A direct-acting relief valve set just above the kick-down relief valve would be good insurance.
Direct acting or pilot operated - what do I use?	Direct-acting valves are used to prevent over pressure, and pilot-operated valves are used to regulate pressure. If you are unsure, use a direct-acting valve. Sun's direct acting valves are very fast, dirt tolerant, stable, and robust. Sun's pilot-operated valves are moderately fast, they have a low pressure rise vs. flow curve, and they are easy to adjust.
