The Sun Hydraulics RQEBODV (RQEBODV) is a kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve opens completely and remains open once the pressure at inlet port 1 surpasses the predefined setting, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. The valve stays open as long as port 1 pressure exceeds that of port 2, requiring flow cessation for reset. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. Not suitable for load-holding applications, this valve is intended for use on the actuator side of systems; if used on the pump side, pump flow must be stopped for reset. The back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges are interchangeable within the same frame size, offering consistent flow paths and cavity compatibility. Corrosion resistance is achieved through external stainless steel or zinc-nickel plated components, denoted by model code suffixes AP or LH. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it offers quick response times of approximately 25 ms and minimal leakage rates under specified conditions. Adjustment involves five full clockwise turns to increase settings, with specific installation torque requirements provided for secure fitting. Weighing .30 lb (0.15 kg), it comes with a Viton seal kit option (990010006). Practical applications include use in portable grain augers where immediate pressure relief can prevent equipment damage or personal injury during unexpected blockages.

Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
- To reset valve, flow through the cartridge must cease.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
