The Sun Hydraulics RQGBCAN (RQGBCAN) is a specialized kickdown relief cartridge designed to act similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve is engineered to kick completely open and maintain an open state when the pressure at inlet port 1 surpasses the set threshold, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds that at port 2, and it resets only when flow ceases and pressure at port 2 equals or exceeds that of port 1. All two-port relief cartridges, excluding pilot reliefs, are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity for a given frame size. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. Not suitable for load holding applications, this cartridge is intended for use on the actuator side of systems; if used on the pump side, pump flow must be halted for reset functionality. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. This corrosion-resistant cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing risks of internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min) and operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), it features a typical response time of 25 ms and minimal leakage under specified conditions. Installation requires specific torque settings for both the valve and locknut components, ensuring proper function within hydraulic systems where precise pressure control is critical.

Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • To reset valve, flow through the cartridge must cease.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
