The Sun Hydraulics RQGBCCN (RQGBCCN) is a kickdown relief cartridge that functions similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems, designed to provide an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank port 2 once the inlet pressure surpasses the valve setting. This valve stays open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds that at port 2 and requires cessation of flow from port 1 to port 2 for resetting. The RQGBCCN is physically and functionally interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges, excluding pilot reliefs, sharing the same flow path and cavity size for a given frame size. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, making it unsuitable for load holding applications. This valve is primarily intended for use on the actuator side of hydraulic systems; if used on the pump side, the pump flow must be halted for reset. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The cartridge's corrosion-resistant design is suitable for corrosive environments, identified by specific model code suffixes like AP or LH. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
