The Sun Hydraulics RQKBCQV (Material Number: RQKBCQV) is a kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve kicks completely open and remains open when the pressure at inlet port 1 surpasses the valve setting, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. The valve stays open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds that at port 2. To reset, flow between these ports must stop, and the pressure at port 2 should be equal to or greater than that at port 1. All two-port relief cartridges, excluding pilot reliefs, are interchangeable with identical flow paths and cavity sizes within a given frame size. The main stage orifice is protected by a durable 150-micron stainless steel screen. It is important to note that this valve is not suitable for load-holding applications; it is intended for use on the actuator side of systems since flow must cease for resetting. If implemented on the pump side, pump flow must be halted for resetting purposes. The back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Corrosion-resistant models are available with stainless steel or zinc-nickel plated components as indicated by model code suffixes AP or LH. The floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks during installation due to excessive torque or machining variations. With a capacity of up to 200 gpm (760 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this cartridge offers rapid response times of around 25 milliseconds and minimal leakage rates under specified conditions. Installation requires specific torque settings, and adjustments can be made via an internal hex screw. This product weighs approximately 2.50 lbs (1.15 kg) and comes with a Viton seal kit option for enhanced performance in various environments.

Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • To reset valve, flow through the cartridge must cease.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
