The Sun Hydraulics RQKBKDN (Material Number: RQKBKDN) is a kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. This valve kicks completely open and stays open once the pressure at inlet port 1 exceeds the set valve threshold, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to tank port 2. The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 is greater than that at port 2. To reset, flow from port 1 to port 2 must stop, and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than that at port 1. This product is physically and functionally interchangeable with all other two-port relief cartridges of the same frame size except pilot reliefs. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, but it is not suitable for load-holding applications. It is intended for use on the actuator side of hydraulic systems because flow through the valve must cease for resetting; if used on the pump side, pump flow must be shut off for resetting. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a ratio of 1:1.
