The Sun Hydraulics RQKBKEN (RQKBKEN) is a specialized kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve kicks completely open when the inlet pressure at port 1 exceeds its preset threshold, allowing an unrestricted flow path to tank port 2. It remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 surpasses that at port 2, and it resets only when flow ceases and the pressures equalize. Notably interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of similar frame sizes, this valve is equipped with a protected main stage orifice via a 150-micron stainless steel screen. However, it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to its reset mechanism requirements. The RQKBKEN is intended primarily for use on the actuator side of hydraulic systems; if applied on the pump side, pump flow must be halted for resetting. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
