The Sun Hydraulics RQKBKEV (RQKBKEV) is a specialized kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve automatically opens completely and remains open once the pressure at inlet port 1 surpasses the set threshold, facilitating an unrestricted flow path to tank port 2. The valve will stay open as long as the pressure at port 1 is greater than at port 2. To reset the valve, flow must stop, and pressure at port 2 must equal or exceed that at port 1. The RQKBKEV is physically and functionally interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, excluding pilot reliefs. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, making it unsuitable for load-holding applications. This cartridge is intended for use on the actuator side of systems; if used on the pump side, pump flow must be halted for resetting. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The RQKBKEV incorporates corrosion-resistant design options identified by model code suffixes AP or LH for external stainless steel or zinc-nickel plated components, respectively. Its floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of up to 200 gpm (760 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this cartridge provides reliable performance with typical response times around 25 ms and minimal leakage rates under specified conditions.
