The Sun Hydraulics RSDS8DV (RSDS8DV) is a normally closed poppet valve designed with an integral pilot control cavity, making it suitable for applications requiring precise pressure regulation. This valve features an externally drained, balanced poppet design and can accommodate any T8A pressure control cartridge within its pilot control cavity. When the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the pilot control cartridge's set point, the poppet element begins to open towards port 2, allowing throttled flow to manage pressure effectively. Notably, this valve is insensitive to back pressure at port 2 up to its set value and can be employed in place of two-port relief valves if there is return line pressure present. The RSDS8DV valve offers functional interchangeability among all three-port sequence cartridges of similar frame sizes, ensuring ease of integration into existing systems. As the inlet pressure at port 1 surpasses the set point relative to drain port 3, pilot flow increases accordingly. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a robust 150-micron stainless steel screen. Pressure at port 3 contributes directly to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed a maximum of 5000 psi (350 bar). Proper installation requires sequential torque application: first on the main stage valve followed by the T8A pilot control valve. The internal modulation within the cartridge makes these valves resistant to issues like cavitation-induced noise and manifold erosion. The RSDS8DV model supports maximum pressure at port 2 and is apt for cross-port relief circuits. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce risks of internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge configurations. This valve is a normally closed poppet element that incorporates an integral pilot control cavity. It is externally drained, and is a balanced poppet design. The pilot control cavity will accept any T-8A pressure control cartridge. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the pilot control cartridge's setting, the poppet element starts to open to port 2, throttling flow to regulate the pressure. The pilot cartridge's setting determines the difference in pressure between the inlet (port 1) and the drain (port 3). These valves are insensitive to back pressure at port 2, up to the valve setting. They may be used to regulate pressure in place of 2-port relief valves if there is pressure in the return line.

  • All 3 port sequence cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
