The Sun Hydraulics RSDSLBV (RSDSLBV) is a pilot-operated, balanced poppet sequence valve designed to supply a secondary circuit with flow once the pressure at the inlet port 1 exceeds the valve setting. This valve effectively controls the pressure at port 1 relative to the pressure at the drain port 3, remaining insensitive to back pressure at port 2 up to the set valve pressure. It can regulate pressure in place of two-port relief valves when there is return line pressure. All three-port sequence cartridges are interchangeable, sharing the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. The pilot flow increases as inlet pressure rises above the valve setting relative to drain pressure. A 150-micron stainless steel screen protects the main stage orifice, and the maximum allowable pressure at port 3 should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar), which adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. This makes it suitable for load-holding applications and immune to cavitation-related issues like noise and manifold erosion due to internal modulating within the cartridge.
