The Sun Hydraulics RVCACWN (RVCACWN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve is normally closed and activates when the inlet port pressure reaches its set point, opening to the tank port to throttle flow and maintain desired pressure levels. A distinct feature of this model is the vent port, which allows for remote control through other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve offers low pressure rise versus flow and moderate response speed. The RVCACWN can handle maximum pressures at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, users should account for potential spool leakage in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen to prevent contamination. It's important to note that this cartridge is not ideal for load-holding applications due to spool leakage and that back pressure on the tank port directly influences the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are recommended as exposure to petroleum-based substances can damage these seals. The design incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This Series 1 cartridge fits into a T-11A cavity and has a capacity of up to 15 gpm (60 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) with typical response times around 10 ms. The valve's installation requires specific torque settings, ensuring proper function and longevity in demanding hydraulic environments.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
