The Sun Hydraulics RVCSCAV (Material Number: RVCSCAV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge designed for efficient pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve operates by opening to the tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches a predetermined pressure setting, thereby throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port 3 that allows for remote control through other pilot or two-way valves, making it versatile and adaptable for various applications. The cartridge is engineered for accuracy with low pressure rise versus flow, ensuring smooth and quiet operation with moderate response speed. The RVCSCAV is immune to cavitation issues such as noise and manifold erosion due to its internal modulation design. It includes EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluid systems but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as this will cause seal damage. The valve can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it ideal for cross-port relief circuits, and it allows remote pilot relief control via the vent on port 3 below its set threshold. It demonstrates relative insensitivity to fluctuating oil temperatures and contamination while featuring a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This valve is particularly suitable for load-holding applications where backpressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Its construction minimizes risks of internal binding due to installation torque or cavity machining variations. With a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this model offers reliable performance in demanding environments. Additional characteristics include an adjustment range with five clockwise turns, installation torque specifications, and minimal leakage rates upon reseating\u2014making it an efficient choice for precise hydraulic control needs.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
