The Sun Hydraulics RVCSCNV (RVCSCNV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge designed for effective pressure regulation. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when inlet pressure reaches the preset level, providing smooth and quiet operation while maintaining accuracy and low pressure rise against flow. It features a vent port that allows remote control by other pilot or two-way valves, making it versatile for various hydraulic applications. The RVCSCNV is immune to cavitation issues such as noise and manifold erosion due to its internal modulating mechanism. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is well-suited for cross-port relief circuits. The valve's design includes EPDM seals compatible with phosphate ester fluids, though exposure to petroleum-based substances should be avoided to prevent seal damage. Its performance remains stable despite varying oil temperatures and contamination levels. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, enhancing durability in load-holding applications. Back pressure on the tank port directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Incorporating Sun's floating style construction minimizes the risk of internal binding due to excessive torque or machining variations during installation. The RVCSCNV fits into Cavity T-11A, Series 1 with a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with control pilot flow ranging from 7-10 in\u00b3/min (0.11-0.16 L/min) and typical response time of 2 ms. The valve features minimal leakage at reseat and offers adjustable settings with clear specifications for installation torque and adjustment screw dimensions, ensuring precise control in demanding hydraulic systems.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
