The Sun Hydraulics RVCSCQV (RVCSCQV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve is normally closed and begins to open to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set level, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port (port 3) that enables remote control via other pilot or two-way valves, providing versatility in various control applications. The valve is engineered for smooth and quiet operation with moderate speed and low pressure rise versus flow characteristics. A significant advantage of the RVCSCQV is its immunity to cavitation-related issues such as noise and manifold erosion due to its internal modulation. It accommodates EPDM seals for compatibility with systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based substances can damage these seals. The cartridge can handle maximum pressures at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits. A remote pilot relief on the vent port allows control below the valve's own setting. The design ensures reliability even with varying oil temperatures and contamination levels, thanks in part to a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. Ideal for load-holding applications, any back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
