The Sun Hydraulics RVCSKWV (RVCSKWV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge valve designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve is normally closed and begins to open to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the valve setting, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port 3 that allows for remote control by other pilot or two-way valves. The RVCSKWV is known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow characteristics, smooth and quiet operation, and moderate response speed. It is particularly effective in preventing cavitation-related issues such as noise and manifold erosion due to its internal modulation. This cartridge is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals; however, these seals are vulnerable to damage from petroleum-based fluids and greases. The valve can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits. A remote pilot relief on the vent port will control the valve below its set point. It demonstrates resilience against variations in oil temperature and contamination. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, making it suitable for load-holding applications. With a cavity size of T-11A Series 1 and a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min), this valve can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges between 7-10 in\u00b3/min (0.11-0.16 L/min), with a typical response time of around 2 ms. Maximum leakage at reseat is limited to 10 drops/min (0.7 cc/min). Adjustments are facilitated by an internal hex adjustment screw, requiring specific torque values for installation and locknut adjustments. Its robust design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to installation variances or machining inconsistencies in cavities or cartridges.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
