The Sun Hydraulics RVEACRV (RVEACRV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. When the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, this normally closed valve opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to maintain the desired pressure. It features a vent port 3 that allows for remote control using other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve offers low pressure rise versus flow and moderate response speed. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This valve is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Any back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges with EPDM seals are intended for systems using phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based substances will damage these seals. The design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal part binding from excessive torque or machining variations. The RVEACRV has a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min) and can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Control pilot flow ranges from 10-15 in\u00b3/min (0.16-0.25 L/min) with a typical response time of 10 ms and maximum leakage of 3 in\u00b3/min at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The adjustment mechanism allows for five clockwise turns to increase setting, with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments provided in the specifications. The model weighs approximately 0.70 lb (0.30 kg) and utilizes Viton seal kits as standard components.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
