The Sun Hydraulics RVEALEN (Material Number: RVEALEN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set level, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port for remote control, allowing integration with other pilot or two-way valves. The valve is known for its accuracy, smooth operation, and moderate response speed. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, users should consider spool leakage in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This cartridge is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but can be damaged by petroleum-based substances. The Sun floating style construction reduces the likelihood of internal part binding from installation torque or machining variations. The RVEALEN operates within a cavity T-2A Series 2 and has a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min). Its maximum operating pressure is 5000 psi (350 bar), with control pilot flow ranging from 10 to 15 in\u00b3/min (0.16 to 0.25 L/min) and typical response time of about 10 ms. Maximum valve leakage at specified conditions is limited to 3 in\u00b3/min (50 cc/min). Adjustments are made via an internal hex screw requiring specific torque settings for secure installation and operation stability.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
