The Sun Hydraulics RVEAOAV (RVEAOAV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. When the pressure at inlet port 1 reaches the designated valve setting, it opens to tank port 2, thereby throttling flow to maintain the desired pressure. This model features a vent port 3 that facilitates remote control via other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow, smooth operation, and moderate speed, this valve is suitable for use in cross-port relief circuits with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). However, it is not recommended for load holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations. It can handle a capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) and has factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). The adjustment screw features an internal hex size of 5/32 in. (4 mm), and the locknut requires a torque of 80-90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are intended for systems using phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The model weighs approximately .70 lb (.30 kg), and its installation requires a torque of 45-50 lbf-ft (61-68 Nm).

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
