The Sun Hydraulics RVEAONV (RVEAONV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation. This valve remains normally closed until the inlet port pressure reaches the preset level, at which point it opens to the tank port, throttling flow to maintain consistent pressure. It features a vent port that allows remote control via other pilot or 2-way valves. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve is moderately fast with low noise levels and minimal pressure rise versus flow. It accepts maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is shielded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen for protection. However, due to potential spool leakage, it is not recommended for load-holding applications. Back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio. The RVEAONV model is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals; exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. This cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations of the cavity/cartridge. It has a cavity type T-2A and belongs to Series 2 with a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min). The factory sets pressure settings at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges from 10-15 in³/min (0.16-0.25 L/min), and typical response time is around 10 ms. The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is approximately 3 in³/min at 1000 psi (50 cc/min at 70 bar). The adjustment requires about five clockwise turns to increase settings, and installation specifications include a torque range of 45-50 lbf·ft (61-68 Nm).

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
