The Sun Hydraulics RVESKNN (RVESKNN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge valve designed to regulate pressure in hydraulic systems. When the inlet port pressure reaches the set level, the valve opens to the tank port, throttling flow to maintain consistent pressure. It features a vent port that allows for remote control by other pilot or two-way valves. This valve is known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow, smooth operation, quiet performance, and moderate response speed. The internal modulation makes it resistant to cavitation-related issues like noise and manifold erosion. It is suitable for load-holding applications provided any valving on the vent port is zero-leak and can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it ideal for cross-port relief circuits. The valve's setting can be controlled below its own setting via a remote pilot relief on the vent port. It remains relatively unaffected by varying oil temperatures and contamination due to its robust design which includes a 150-micron stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice. The RVESKNN model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It has a cavity size of T-2A with a series capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges from 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min) with a typical response time of 2 ms and maximum leakage at reseat being 10 drops/min (0.7 cc/min). The adjustment mechanism allows for increasing settings with five clockwise turns, supported by specific installation torques for various components ensuring reliable performance across applications.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications, providing that any valving on the vent port (port 3) is zero leak.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
