The Sun Hydraulics RVGACGN (RVGACGN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. It opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the valve setting, effectively throttling flow to regulate pressure. This model includes a vent port 3 for remote control via other pilot or 2-way valves, making it versatile for various applications requiring precision and low pressure rise versus flow. The RVGACGN is not suitable for load-holding applications due to spool leakage but performs well in cross-port relief circuits with consideration of leakage. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce binding risks from installation torque or machining variations. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min), this valve is robust and reliable for high-pressure systems. The factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with response times typically around 10 ms. Its adjustment mechanism allows up to five full clockwise turns to increase the setting, while backpressure at tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The valve's installation torque ranges from 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), with specific hex sizes for adjustment screw and locknut ensuring ease of use during setup. Additionally, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are intended for systems using phosphate ester fluids only, as exposure to petroleum-based substances can cause seal damage.
