The Sun Hydraulics RVGACWV (RVGACWV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precision pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve remains normally closed and opens to tank port 2 when the inlet pressure at port 1 reaches the set threshold, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port 3 that enables remote control through other pilot or two-way valves, offering enhanced versatility. Notably, this model is characterized by its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow rate, smooth operation, quiet performance, and moderate response speed. This relief cartridge can handle maximum pressures at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, users should consider spool leakage in such applications. It incorporates a main stage orifice shielded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen for added protection. The design is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Additionally, back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are available but are incompatible with petroleum-based substances which could damage the seals. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks due to installation torque variations or machining discrepancies in cavity/cartridge interfaces. The RVGACWV offers a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min) and operates at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Factory settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with an adjustment range facilitated by an internal hex screw. The valve's response time is typically around 10 milliseconds with minimal leakage under specified conditions. This product includes options for Viton seal kits and requires specific installation torques for optimal performance.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
