The Sun Hydraulics RVGELBV (RVGELBV) is a fast-acting, ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. This model opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the valve setting, throttling flow to regulate pressure. It features a vent port (port 3) for remote control using other pilot or 2-way valves. Known for its low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds, this valve is suitable for applications requiring quick adjustments and precise control. The RVGELBV can handle maximum pressures at port 2 and is appropriate for cross-port relief circuits, although spool leakage should be considered in such configurations. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen; however, it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This model fits into cavity T-17A series with a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min) and operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It requires an installation torque of 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), with adjustment settings managed via an internal hex screw and secured by a locknut torqued at 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The RVGELBV weighs approximately 1.60 lb (0.70 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for robust performance in various conditions.

Fast-acting, ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
