The Sun Hydraulics RVGELDV (RVGELDV) is a fast-acting, ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation. It remains normally closed until the pressure at inlet port 1 reaches the pre-set level, at which point it opens to tank port 2 to throttle flow and maintain pressure. This model features a vent port (port 3) allowing remote control by other pilot or two-way valves, offering versatility in system configurations. The valve can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. However, it is not recommended for load holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The RVGELDV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding from excessive torque or machining variations. It has a cavity type T-17A and series 3 capacity with a flow rate of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). Factory pressure settings are calibrated at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges from 15 to 20 in\u00b3/min (0.25 to 0.33 L/min), with a typical response time of approximately 2 ms. Valve leakage at maximum viscosity conditions is limited to 4 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (65 cc/min at 70 bar). Adjustments can be made via an internal hex screw with specifications detailed for torque and sizes of related components. The unit weighs approximately 1.60 lb (0.70 kg) and utilizes a Viton seal kit under part number 990017006 for optimal sealing performance.

Fast-acting, ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.

  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
