The Sun Hydraulics RVGSCAV (RVGSCAV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve remains normally closed and begins to open when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the preset level, directing flow to tank port 2 to maintain regulated pressure. A vent port, port 3, allows for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy and low-pressure rise versus flow characteristics, this valve operates smoothly and quietly with moderate speed. Its design ensures immunity to cavitation-related issues like noise and manifold erosion. This cartridge is ideal for load-holding applications provided that any valving on the vent port is zero-leak. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits. The valve's setting can be controlled remotely via a pilot relief on the vent port. It exhibits relative insensitivity to variations in oil temperature and contamination, with a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. Back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The Sun floating style construction minimizes risks of internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavities/cartridges. With a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve ensures reliable performance with minimal leakage at reseat conditions. The cartridge features an adjustment mechanism allowing up to five clockwise turns to increase settings, providing flexibility in various applications. The RVGSCAV model is equipped with EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid exposure to petroleum-based substances which may damage the seals.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications, providing that any valving on the vent port (port 3) is zero leak.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
